17 December 2018

Significant progress was made at the ESS construction site this year, with three buildings completed and handed over to ESS: Pump Station (F01), Sprinkler Building (H10) and the complete Klystron Gallery (G02).

At the E-buildings, Superstructure erection was completed for Experimental Hall 3 (E01), the Beam Line Gallery (E02) and the adjacent labs, for internal fittings to follow.

Castings also progressed at the Target buildings, with the start of base slabs for Utility and A2T (Accelerator to Target) areas and the installation of the waste pits in Active Cell in March.

Next year at the D-buildings, the Monolith and Utility high bay vault will be completed, with Superstructure and steel work to start in the summer. Superstructure for the Admin area and Substation D06 will start in spring, with Lab Building D04 to follow at the beginning of summer.

Sectional Handover of Logistics Centre (F03), Experimental Hall 3 (E01) and Substation E05 is set for late summer next year. At the same time ESS will also get parallel access to the Beam Line Gallery (E02) part 1.
