Target

In the 'Accelerator to Target' (A2T), work on lift shafts, the installation of steel plates for shielding purposes ,and partition walls is ongoing. Construction of high pillars continues on both sides, and in early May reinforcements and water stops for the facade walls will commence, with the first casting planned for mid -May.

The last casting (4 out of 4) for the Monolith high bay slab is planned for early May , when we will also cast the edge beam. In May we will commence construction of two houses on top of the slab, which will be placed on the east side of the vault.

In the Utility and Active Cell, internal structures and construction of walls on level 3 are ongoing, as well as reinforcement of the High Bay slab. First castings are scheduled for the Utility and Active Cell in early May.

Both the Substation Building and the Admin part of the Target Building are ready for superstructure works. Pprefab erection work will start next week, initially in the Substation.

Experimental Halls

Experimental Hall 3 is on time for handover to ESS in August. Some final touches, including the installation of a crane hook for the overhead crane and lightning protection for the building, remain. At the same time we are in progress with pre-inspections and testing prior to a Sectional Handover Inspection in mid-May. Remaining issues shall then be solved before the Sectional Handover Meeting planned for 15 August.

The status of Experiment Halls 1 and 2 is as follows:

Experimental Hall 1- 60 bottom slabs cast, 18 to go (78% complete)

Experimental Hall 2- 30 bottom slab cast, 17 to go (64% complete).

Grinding of the floors is completed in the large Hall 1 and Beamline Gallery, and a dust binder has been applied. Interior works continue in the lab buildings. Details, such as door posts, glazed wall sections for the offices, toilets, tiling, radiators, kitchen fittings, various installations and cabling, are all in progress.

Accelerator

Stub installations are ongoing in the Accelerator tunnel, with more than 500 waveguide units installed (10%+ complete) so far. Beam commissioning activities are currently ongoing for the Ion Source and LEBT.

In the Klystron Gallery, steel structure erection is continuing, as well as rack installations along the stubs and walls. Waveguide components are being installed throughout the Gallery, and in Test Stand 2 preparations are ongoing to move the Medium beta cryomodule inside the test bunker.
