15 January 2018

Last week on the construction site, the erection of the superstructure for the instrument guide hall (E02) moved forward, giving substantial definition to this large area of the construction site. The E05 substation and large E04 lab buildings adjacent to the instrument hall are meanwhile receiving sandwich panels.

Concrete work for the Target Station (D02) Monolith vault is completed on the west side, and reinforcement is ongoing for the east vault, with casting planned next week. The large steel shielding plates installed in December have been cast into the Monolith walls. Concrete works will now begin in the Target Station’s utility area, between the Monolith and the Active Cells Handling area.

And finally, the earthworks for the ESS Campus Buildings (B01 & B02) as well as the site entrance (F04) near the number 20 bus stop are nearing completion. The areas will be handed over to ESS February 1 and March 1, respectively.
