Target
In the area between the Accelerator tunnel and the Target Building, four pillars were cast last week, while reinforcement continued for the 1.2 metre thick west tunnel slab. The last phase of piling has now been entered, with RD piles being installed north of the target, and casings for steel cores on the south side in place. Less than five piles remain to be installed and are expected to be completed next week.
General
Installation of waveguide components continued. Commissioning of the largest of the three coldboxes is ongoing.
Runways for the overhead crane in the Experimental Hall instrument building are in place, and are now awaiting delivery of the 10-tonne crane head, expected in March.
Epoxy floors have been added and covered with protective boards on the first level of the Hall 3 Lab Building. The floors on the basement level and in the Lab Building will soon undergo the same treatment. Grinding and finishing work is ongoing in the floor in the large Beamline Gallery.
