Target

The last casting for the Dog Leg Cover is scheduled for this week. This is a big casting with two pumps, one to be placed on each side of the ramp. Next year will see more action in the target area, as the parallel scope continues in the Active Cell (wall shielding, crane rails, pit lids etc), in the Monolith (target vessel expected to arrive on site in February) and the start of the bunker construction shortly thereafter.<
At the same time, work will continue with superstructure erection in all areas, sandwich panels and roof construction. Electrical/Process/HVAC work will also start up in several areas, and steel erection will start for one of the Experimental Halls in February and the other Hall in March. Once the structure is up for the first, completion of the second part of the neutron guide hall  can continue (summer 2020).

General

Cave foundation for the NMX instrument is ongoing in the west end of the large experimental hall. Work on laying the form and reinforcement for the outline of this experimental cave is ongoing - first casting is expected to be performed before the Christmas break. About 10 loads of concrete will be supplied for the foundation. Furniture for one of the labs has been delivered, and installation will commence inside the first ESS lab early 2020.
