16 October 2017

The Target Station Monolith stands ready for the very first installations from the Neutron Scattering Systems (NSS) project, some specially engineered steel plates. Work on the Monolith vault meanwhile continues. The epic reinforcement of the walls for the Active Cells Handling Area moves steadily toward completion. It is now anticipated that casting of the heavy concrete for this massive area of the site will begin in two weeks and proceed on an aggressive schedule that should have the 12 castings complete before the end of the year.

The metal roof is in place and wall panels are now being installed for most of the long-range instrument hall (E01) and two of its auxiliary buildings. Roof and facade work is ongoing on the Sprinkler Building in anticipation of its full interior waterproofing later this year. And work on the Central Utility Building is primed to begin again soon as a contractor to perform the interior works and installations has been chosen. The Design Phase begins now, with production to begin in early 2018.
