Webinar: ESS Instrument Roadmap – Way Forward

ESS is advancing towards operation and delivering First Neutrons, preparing to welcome neutron users by the end of 2027. In parallel, ESS has launched a strategic roadmap process to guide the long-term evolution of its instrument suite beyond the 15 instruments now under construction, ensuring ESS remains globally competitive and impactful for decades to come.

Join the webinar "ESS Roadmap for future Instruments - Way Forward" to find out more.

As part of this effort, ESS has opened a Call for Input (3 February 2025 – 3 February 2026), inviting the scientific community to propose conceptual ideas for future instruments. These concepts will help identify scientific gaps, address emerging needs, and shape the roadmap for ESS’s next phase of development. Proposals will be reviewed for scientific excellence, feasibility, and strategic fit, with selected ideas forming the basis of future instrument projects.

This webinar, hosted by ESS Science Director Giovanna Fragneto, will provide an update on instrument developments, scientific areas under consideration, and practical guidance on how to contribute. The session will also feature a Q&A with the Heads of Instrument Divisions at ESS.

Date & time: 23 September 2025, 15:00–16:00 CET
