This summer, the prestigious International Conference on Neutron Scattering (ICNS) will be held in Copenhagen and Lund.
ICNS is a global platform for discussion and knowledge exchange among scientists who use neutrons to drive scientific progress.
7-9 July, researchers and invited guests from the worlds of science, politics, and industry will gather at Bella Center in Copenhagen.
The final day of the conference, 10 July, will take place at The Loop and the adjacent European Spallation Source ERIC (ESS) in northeastern Lund.
ICNS is held only once every four years, rotating between Europe, the Americas, and Asia – making the European edition a rare opportunity: it visits the continent just once every twelve years.
The conference is being held in Scandinavia for the first time: in Lund, where ESS is being built, and Copenhagen, close to the ESS data management and software centre.
This reflects the importance of ESS to the global neutron research community and demonstrates Europe's competitiveness on the global stage.
Approximately 800 neutron scientists from around 40 countries will attend, sharing the latest breakthroughs in neutron research across a variety of fields including smart materials, life sciences, environmental science, and energy solutions. Neutron research plays a vital role in advanced materials science, which is essential for addressing some of the world’s greatest societal challenges.
